Dr. Friedman's Health Tips of the Day for Low Back Pain

Did you know that 31 million American’s suffer from low back pain at any given time!? 80% of the population will suffer from back pain at one point in their life! That is an astronomical number of people! Consumer Reports just released a study that reported Chiropractic care as having the best outcome for Low Back pain as well as patient satisfaction. Who better to treat back pain than someone who treats back pain all day… A CHIROPRACTOR!

Here are some health tips:

*  Maintain a healthy diet and weight

*  Remain Active! – under the supervision of your Doctor of Chiropractic

*  Avoid prolonged bed rest of inactivity

* Warm up or stretch prior to any physical activity, such as gardening

* Maintain a proper posture

* Wear comfortable, low- heeled shoes

* Sleep on a mattress of medium firmness to minimize any curve in your spine

* Lift with your knees, keep the object close to your body, and do NOT twist when lifting

* Quit smoking!! Smoking impairs blood flow, resulting in oxygen and nutrient deprivation to spinal tissues.

* Work with your Doctor of Chiropractic to ensure that your computer and workstation is ergonomically correct
